LIVING TINY

Meet Olive.

A 1994 GMC Bludbird, Olive has a 6.6 litre, straight 6, Caterpillar turbo Diesel engine. A 5 speed standard transmission with a split differential and hydraulic brakes. She's 29 feet from bumper to bumper with 20 feet of living space behind the driver's seat. Originating from Idaho, she lived her entire life as a school bus. First, for a Idaho school district and then for a commercial bus company on Vancouver Island. We picked her up for a whopping $3,000 on Thanksgiving day 2018.

Tiny living is an exciting and unique lifestyle choice that more and more people are choosing every day. Recently, we decided to try it out for ourselves and converted an old school bus into our very own tiny home. Over the course of 6 weeks, we traveled the west coast of the USA, living and exploring in our tiny home. It was an incredible experience that we wouldn't trade for anything! If you're curious to learn a bit more about our journey and how we made it all happen, be sure to check out our blog.

LOW WASTE AND ZERO WASTE

"If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted, then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production"

-Pete Seeger

Living a zero-waste lifestyle requires us to be mindful of our everyday choices, from the food we buy, to the clothes we wear, to the products we use in our homes. It's about being resourceful and making the most out of what we have.

The ultimate goal of a zero waste lifestyle is to reduce our reliance on single-use items and focus on reusing, recycling, and composting as much as possible. This can include using reusable bags for groceries, buying second-hand clothes, and using natural cleaning products.

Though it may seem daunting, living a zero-waste lifestyle can actually be quite easy once you get used to it. Start small by replacing something you use regularly with a reusable alternative or repurposing items you already have around the house.

On my blog, I'll be sharing my journey to a zero-waste lifestyle and providing tips on how you can make small changes that will have a big impact on our planet.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Gut health is an important factor in overall health and wellness. Poor gut health can lead to a variety of issues, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Incorporating a diet that is low in FODMAPs, a type of fermentable carbohydrate, can help to reduce the symptoms of IBS.

For those looking to improve their overall health and wellness, I recommend a balanced diet with high amounts of fat and protein, and low levels of carbs. Whole foods are an important part of this diet, as they can help improve gut health. This type of diet can be especially beneficial for those with metabolic issues, PCOS, diabetes, and other conditions. Sticking to this diet can help you feel better and have more energy.

Organic Vegetables

The key is to find a balance that works for you and your lifestyle. Taking the time to make sure your gut health is in check can help to improve not only your physical health, but also your mental and emotional wellbeing.

For years, I struggled to find the right diet to heal my gut. After trying many different approaches, I finally found a solution in the form of an elimination diet. This diet removed certain foods from my diet to help my gut heal and recover. After a few months of sticking to this diet, I was able to start reintroducing foods back into my diet. Now, I continue to eat a whole food balanced diet full of good fats and proteins. I'm so thankful I was able to heal my gut and would love to share my story with others. Read on to learn more about what worked for me and what might work for you too.

MOTHERHOOD

I recently became a mom again after 16 years, and it has been a wild ride!

Motherhood is a journey that looks different for everyone. On my blog, I share my experiences as both a teen mom and an older mom. As a teen mom, I had to navigate a world of judgement and limited support. Now, as a new mom in my 30's, I have access to more resources and a greater understanding of my own capabilities. I have learnt that motherhood is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and it is ok to find your own way.

I recently gave birth to my second child and I could not have had a more different experience than with my first. With my first, I had a traumatic hospital birth that left me vowing never to do it again. When it came time to give birth a second time, I decided to take control and, inspired by social media stories of home water births, use it to heal from my first. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. While the labour and delivery were flawless, my daughter and I were both rushed to hospital following the birth. I was admitted to the hospital with a birthing injury, while my daughter received treatment in the NICU.

It was a scary and stressful time, but I'm so grateful for the amazing care that we both received. I feel blessed to be able to experience motherhood all over again and to watch my daughter grow and develop.

If you’re interested in learning more about my experiences, feel free to read my blog posts and get an inside view of two different motherhood journeys and my experience with two very different birthing experiences.

GLOBAL CITIZENS

As a family of global citizens, we are excited to announce our plans to call both Canada and New Zealand home. We will be travelling between the two countries regularly, giving us the opportunity to experience life in both hemispheres. We'll be able to explore different cultures, languages and customs.

Financially, this will require us to make investments in both places and to create a budget that allows us to move between them regularly. In the northern hemisphere, we plan to focus on building a career and establishing a network of contacts. In the southern hemisphere, we plan to focus on personal growth, adventure and exploring the natural flora and fauna.

We're excited to embark on this journey and look forward to the adventures ahead. We can't wait to see where it may take us, share our experiences with the world and hopefully inspire others to explore the globe for themselves.

CREATURES OF AVENTURA BOARDGAME

My son has been creating his own board game for years now that he calls "Creatures of Aventura". It's a fantasy-themed game where players compete to be the greatest warrior. Players travel through an exciting and unpredictable fantasy world, battle mythical creatures, collect the Aventurine Stones and complete various quests to win. The game emphasizes strategy, as well as a bit of luck.

Creatures of Aventura is completely homemade. He's even gone as far as to make his own custom cards, rules and board pieces. Creating this game has been a fun and creative way for my son to spend his time and I'm proud of his ingenuity, creativity and the level of detail he's put into this game.

If you're looking for a unique board game experience, Creatures of Aventura is the perfect choice and provides hours of fun for the whole family. Help us today with a donation to get this amazing game printed for consumer enjoyment!

POCKET CHANGE FOR AFRICA

As a child that believes everyone on Earth deserves to be happy, it was difficult for Dominic to learn that in some places of the world, other children were less fortunate than him. It started in grade 6, after learning about the lack of access to clean water in some areas of Africa. This knowledge, left Dominic feeling motivated and empowered to help. He decided that he would try to raise money to build a well in Africa.

With strong will and determination, Dominic stood outside of local shops in the snow and rain for months to collect any amount of pocket change customers were willing to donate.

By doing this he was able to raise $622.48 to help rehabilitate a broken-down well in Nigeria, through the Canadian non-profit organization Lifewater Canada.

Lifewater Canada sends volunteers, trains and equips people in Africa and Haiti to drill wells and build washrooms.

Dominic hopes to one day save enough of his own money to volunteer and is accepting donations to help towards his savings goal.

Please contact us for enquiries or to help Dominic with his volunteering dreams.
